Riverfront Activation

Our work on the Riverhead Downtown Activation Plan, in partnership with Urban Design Associates, is focused on creating a vibrant and welcoming destination along Long Island’s Peconic Bay.

The Activation Plan emphasizes the development of dynamic public spaces, enhanced walkability, and community-focused design to energize Riverhead’s downtown core. By aligning with the town’s broader revitalization efforts, this plan ensures that Riverhead will be a hub for both residents and visitors—leveraging its unique location on the Peconic River to deliver cultural, recreational, and economic benefits.

The Plan was instrumental in winning a $10 million grant from New York State to help realize the full scope of Riverhead’s downtown and riverfront transformation. The investments include activating underutilized spaces, improving connectivity, and introducing new amenities that celebrate the town’s natural beauty and local heritage.
